The Type Truck: Taking Letterpress to the People

Kyle Durrie has a pretty awesome dream. From her website:

"Two of my favorite things in the world are printing and road trips. But these two things kept getting in the way of one another in my life; they seemed mutually exclusive. I wanted to figure out a way to do both things at the same time."

Kyle converted a 1982 Chevy step van into a fully functioning letterpress shop, complete with two presses and lots of type drawers. And she's just embarked from Portland, OR on a nine-month trip across the U.S. She'll visit schools and community groups along the way, teaching workshops, doing demos and "generally spreading the good word about printing the old fashioned way."

Want to meet Kyle and try your hand at letterpress? Check out the impressive list of tour dates on her website. You can also arrange for her to visit your community.

If you're in Seattle, Kyle will be in your city on June 15 and 16!
